Another Hike & Sketch day in South Brewster County

The Barton Warnock Visitor Center in Big Bend Ranch State Park hosted another Hike and Sketch for 2nd- 4th graders from Terlingua Common School District and local home schools. On the morning hike, the students learned about trail etiquette and how to use landmarks to avoid getting lost. They sketched and photographed plants and rocks and the surrounding scenery. One student spotted a narrow-mouth toad hanging out below a ceniza. Following the hike and lunch, participants created art using pastels and cut paper. Many of the creations were entered in Arts in the Parks contest. Thanks to park ranger Amber Harrison for leading the hikers on their adventure. (Crystal Allbright, photo)
