Call for local artists and artisans for public art at Baines and Kokernot Parks in Alpine

Big Bend Parks and Recreation for Kids (BBPaRKs) invites artists or teams of artists who live or work in the Big Bend region to submit plans to be considered for two pieces of public art, one at Baines Park and one at Kokernot Park.

  • Each park needs a piece of art that incorporates the recognition of past and future grantors and donors to the parks. (An example might be a “giving tree” painted on an existing or created section of wall, or a metalwork piece that allows for the future addition of names.)
  • The artist or artist team may apply for one or both of the projects, and the pieces proposed at each park must be different from one another, though they can share a theme. Multiple submissions are allowed. The artist or artist team selected for the project is expected to design and fabricate the project within the given project budget and timeline.
  • Submissions may be made in any form that transmits the artist’s plan, including but not limited to photos, drawings, and written description.
  • The total available funding for the project is $1000*, allocated as follows:

Baines Park artist fee ……………………………….$200

Baines Park materials and fabrication………..$300

Kokernot Park artist fee…………………………….$200

Kokernot Park materials and fabrication……$300

*(any remaining funds at the completion of the project will revert to BBPaRKs)
