(Austin, TX) – Today, State Representative Chris Turner (District 101 – Grand Prairie) was elected Chair of the House Democratic Caucus. In this leadership role, Turner will be the point person to deliver the Democratic message and guide the policy of the House Democratic Caucus.
“I am humbled by the responsibility my Democratic colleagues have entrusted with me,” said Turner. “As Caucus Chair, I look forward to working with all of my Democratic colleagues as we work to strengthen our public schools, create more economic opportunity for Texas families and stand up to the misguided policies coming from the Trump Administration.”
In addition to Chair, other leadership positions in the House Democratic Caucus were filled, as well. Representative Poncho Nevárez was elected First Vice Chair. Additionally, Representative Celia Israel was elected Second Vice Chair. Finally, Representative Toni Rose was elected Treasurer. Working with Democratic House members, the leadership team of the House Democratic Caucus will focus on the issues that matter to every day Texans, including increasing funding for Texas public schools, ensuring that our most vulnerable children are protected from abuse, and every Texan feels safe in their communities, regardless of the color of their skin or their religious beliefs.
