CORRECTIONS to our story about the Terlingua PeaOff

In our Feb. print edition, which hit the newsstands Monday, Jan. 30. we had several errors in our story “Terlingua’s Annual PeaOff is great fun, and good fundraiser for, this year, the local theater company:”

This year’s winner of the annual Terlingua Black-eyed PeaOff (held Jan. 1, 2017, in the Terlingua Ghost Town) was Robert Hill (not Brittney Lowe, who won first place last year). This is Hill’s fifth time in 27 years winning the cookoff. As organizer Pam Ware said when she announced his win, “It’s in the pot liquor. And if you don’t know what potliquor is, you don’t know about black-eyed peas.”

This year, the person “locked up” in the historic Terlingua Jail (another fundraiser) was Lisa Ivey (not Deputy Ben, who was the good sport in this role last year).

And finally, this year’s music was played by Dr. Fun and his group (not Delozier, Faulk, and Teer, who played last year).

We regret the errors.
