Alpine Independent School District Single-District 6 Board of Trustees member Kenda Belardo, has decided she will not serve another term if elected in the upcoming May 6 election.
“I’ve thought long and hard about it, and the school has many exciting things coming up,” said Belardo, who added that for personal reasons she is unable to continue to serve if elected.
Belardo will remain on the May 6 ballot as the cut-off date to be removed from the ballot has passed. Belardo said if elected, she will submit a certificate of declination that will allow the board to accept applications for the position. Currently, Belardo is on the May 6 ballot with Adrian Billings.
Belardo told the Gazette she will not participate in the Alpine election candidate forum sponsored by the Big Bend Gazette this Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the Alpine Civic Center.
