Big Bend Agents Arrest Convicted Sex Offenders

MARFA, TX –U.S. Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Marfa and Presidio stations made three separate arrests of sex offenders who had been previously removed from the United States.

On October 17, Marfa agents working east of town arrested five undocumented immigrants who were illegally present in the United States. One of the adult males was a 65-year-old man from Mexico who was previously convicted on January 19, 1989, on sexual offense against a child. He was then sentenced to 10 years of jail-time in Midland, Texas before being deported back to Mexico.

The same day, Presidio, Texas agents arrested a 59-year-old man from Mexico who was also illegally present in the United States. The subject was convicted on March 28, 1984, on criminal sexual contact of a minor charges in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Lastly, on October 21, Marfa agents took another Mexican National into custody. The man was convicted on February 27, 2013, on charges of kidnapping and enticement-of-a-minor-for-indecent purposes, in Muleshoe, Texas.

Big Bend Sector agents patrol 510 miles of the southwest border which extends from Sierra Blanca, Texas to Sanderson. It is the largest Border Patrol Sector on the U.S-Mexico border.
