Jazz group debuts Friday, May 1 at St. James Church in Alpine

Four musicians, all with Sul Ross connections, come together Friday, May 1, at 6 p.m.as Nova Camp, the area’s newest jazz quartet.

Carol Wallace, keyboards; Ron Steinmann, percussion; Steve Bennack, bass and Kendall Craig, vocals are well known in the Big Bend in many musical areas, but this is their first foray as a jazz quartet.

“I’m having a blast,” said Wallace, vowing never to play anything but jazz in the future. While that may not really be the case for the talented pianist, the group is having a great time playing together and looks forward to their debut performance on Friday.

The concert is free and followed by a reception with the artists. St. James is located at N. 6th St. and Ave. A in Alpine.
